Farewell Frankfurt!

Following Sunday afternoon’s Handover Ceremony, Canada FBM2021’s team is en route home to Canada. This landmark ceremony was opened by a moderated discussion between authors Dany Laferrière (Canada) and Manuel Vilas (Spain), and closed when Caroline Fortin, president of Canada FBM2021, handed the Guest of Honour scroll to Maria José Galvez from Spain, bidding farewell to Canada as the Guest of Honour (GoH) at the 2021 edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Canada FBM2021’s offices will be closed from October 26-29.
When we return, we are looking forward to providing final reflections on the fair and Canada’s presence as the Guest of Honour. In the meantime, we are pleased to provide a summary of the activities that continue to roll out after the closure of the fair:
Literary Programming Online
Catherine Mavrikakis, Dany Laferrière, Kim Thúy, Michael Crummey, Michel Jean, Nancy Vo, Paul Seesequasis, and Vivek Shraya brought literary discussions to the stage in Canada’s Guest of Honour Pavilion this week. Authors participated in the Mapping Canada series, Preserving and Protecting Languages and Cultures series, the series of Meet and Greets with other Countries, the Poetry on the Main Stage series, and the Audacity of Children’s Literature series.
Additionally, the digital literary content created in partnership with CBC continues to be available through our YouTube channel and in the Virtual Pavilion.
