Children’s Author and Illustrator - Nova Scotia
Sydney Smith has illustrated numerous children’s books, including Sidewalk Flowers, conceived by Jon Arno Lawson, Town Is by the Sea by Joanne Schwartz, and his authorial debut Small in the City. Among many prizes, Sydney’s books have been four times selected for the New York Times/ NYPL Best Illustrated Children’s Books list, won two Governor General’s Literary Awards, the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Prize, and in 2017 he was awarded the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal for Town Is by the Sea.
