Summary

HYBRID – CUTTING EDGE CANADA 2021

A joint festival of MUTEK and HYBRID/HELLERAU

At the beginning of the 20th century, HELLERAU was founded as a joint project of industry, research and art and as a response to industrialization and changes in working and living conditions. More than 100 years later, HYBRID, a new international platform, a laboratory, experimental and discursive space for the arts in the digital age and critical phases of global transformation processes, is being established at HELLERAU.

As a start of this new platform, a joint festival will be presented for the first time in cooperation with MUTEK: HYBRID – CUTTING EDGE CANADA. Unlike originally planned, this event will take place almost exclusively online. For four days, from March 11-14, 2021, numerous performances will be presented on virtual stages via the festival platform www.hybrid-space.org, as well as an interactive gallery with innovative digital artworks and an audio room with a non-stop selection of exceptional concerts.

HYBRID – CUTTING EDGE CANADA focuses on artists who live or have worked in Canada or are active in the MUTEK network.

All stage shows and the online gallery space will be accessible on the https://virtual.mutek.org/ server from 11-31 March 2021. Concerts by numerous other Canadian artists can also be heard on site in an audio room throughout the duration.

In addition, there will be a HYBRID<>BOX in front of the Festspielhaus in HELLERAU from 11.03.2021 (initially planned to run until the end of 2021), in which the Canadian artists of the Online Gallery can also be presented on site in Dresden.
