MaerzMusik explores the concept of time, not only as a medium for art to propagate through but also as a powerful socially-constructed instrument of politics and society.
From March 19th to March 28th, attendees are welcome to virtually immerse themselves in concerts, installations, film presentations, and discussions that consider our notion of time to dictate the rhythm of life, service economic interests, and influence freedom of action.
On March 25th at 20:00, the Swiss Composer Jürg Frey premieres his String Quartet No. 4 in a concert film produced exclusively with Quatuor Bozzini in Montreal.
Starting March 27th at 20:00, the concluding event, “TIMEPIECE,” will bring together more than 130 musicians and speakers from around the world. This 27-hour long speaking clock, based on and an extension of Peter Ablinger’s previous work, TIM Song, is a manifestation of solidarity in Corona-Times.
This project is part of Canada’s Guest of Honour presentation at the Frankfurter Book Fair in 2021. We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Government of Canada.
