At the end of the concert, Angela Hewitt will be awarded the Bach Medal by the City of Leipzig. The concert is part of the cultural program of Canada’s host country appearance at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2020. Enjoy the concert here.
Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt has dedicated herself to Johann Sebastian Bach’s piano work with great passion and conviction since her youth. She has long since recorded all the relevant compositions on CD and thrilled audiences all over the world in countless concerts. Angela Hewitt will receive the Bach Medal in 2020 for this great service to Bach. In her luggage for Leipzig she also has the Goldberg Variations, the exceptional work by Johann Sebastian Bach about which Angela Hewitt herself says: ”There are very few pieces in keyboard literature that have the strength to reach us in such sublime regions to lead.”
